The AoS league has reached terminal velocity with 4 rounds completed and only 2 left to scramble for that coveted 2nd and 3rd place behind Alden’s pointy ears.

Per tradition to this point, I will recap round 4 ahead of predictions for round 5.

As one of our pairs (who shall remain nameless) has chosen to play their match at the first possible opportunity, the recaps are gonna be one sentence so I have enough time to scramble together some predictions before their game.

Liam (vertically challenged bad) vs Pete (vertically challenged orange)

Prediction: Liam to win

Result: Liam to won

The Chorfs rather battered the Fyreslayers in this one, which has acted as final straw for Pete to drop from the league and get some lizards in!

Leo (warpstone running hot) vs Andy (P + V =?)

Prediction: Leo to win

Result: Leo win

I predicted a Leo win for this game, but (and I quote) to win a ‘close one’ which this game was anything but. No lube for Andy in this one.

Kyle (Vizzik fan club) vs Aid (just hoping to get a game in)

Prediction: Kyle victory

Result: Kyle victory (bye game)

Unfortunately, I was slightly prophetic in my army names here and Aid was unable to play this one, so Kyle got a bye win.

Callum (the fantastic four) vs George (rats on the up)

Prediction: Callum to win

Result: Callum wins

I predicted a close win here and Callum took this one narrowly, so yay for me (and Callum I guess).

Craig (heavy lies the bone crown) vs Alden (heavy lies the actual crown)

Prediction: Alden easy win

Result: Alden wins easily

I predicted a comfortable win for Alden, and was not disappointed (I was).

Joe (Nurgley Newness) vs Max (bloated bellies, but in a different way)

Prediction: Joe victory

Result: Joe victory

This game was so nearly a 47-47 draw, until I pointed out to Max that he had only scored 4 rounds in the tabletop battles app. On recount, it turned out to be fake news and Joe won narrowly.

Most importantly of all, for the first time ever I correctly predicted the results of all the matches for this round! Good times.

Round 5: Passing Seasons

This month’s mission is Passing Seasons, with 2 pairs of objectives which give different bonuses to the underdog depending on the battle round, but also score primary differently depending on which round it is.

With the addition of diagonal quarters of the board for territories, this has the makings of a fun and tactical round!

Round 4 predictions

For this round we are down to 5 games as Aid and Pete have left us to it for the final 2 rounds.

Alden (LRL 2.0) vs Kyle (starting his villain arc)

Straight to the top of the table and our early bird clash!

Alden has a new book, which seems to have made his elves even more broken than they already were and he is ready to heap misery upon his opponents afresh.

Hopefully he brings his whiteboard to demonstrate all the silly runes and how they link to each other for Kyle to try and get his head around while Teclis pew pews spells like a man in a panel van handing out sweets.

I’ve already said to Kyle to just try and score as much as he can in this match for a good points differential, as we all know how tricky our newly capped captain is!

Prediction: Alden to win

Liam (too tall to be a dwarf) vs Andy (anime vampire)

Liam comes into this one after wrecking Pete out of the league, and Andy is here to bounce back from a beat down from Leo (but has come from going 1/1/1 at his first RTT).

I’m unsure how this one goes to be honest, Andy can definitely tank more shooting than Pete’s slayers could, and can also get right into Liam’s forces who will be tucked in a corner much more easily.

Andy however should be aware of the Bull Centaurs which are capable to exploding pretty well anything.

Prediction: Andy grind out a narrow win

Leo (becoming a menace) vs Max (there’s 5 rounds dude!)

Honestly you never know what’s going to happen with the Ogors, they can smash absolutely anything and everything and the rat-men could be bashed aside relatively easily if all those 4 ups come good.

However, Leo is becoming a cunning rat general and will have magical superiority in this game, as well as some huge output of his own from the rat monsters and perhaps some cheeky 5+ wards to soak up the Ogor big damage.

I expect a bloodbath which probably comes down to who goes first and a potential double turn to table, with ratty recursion being tricky for Max as the game goes deep.

Prediction: Leo to continue his crazy form.

Joe (needs to download tabletop battles app) vs George (please make Joe download tabletop battles)

2 chaps with 2 wins each here, George with his familiar Skaven and Joe still testing and experimenting with the new Maggotkin book. Both come off the back of really close games as well.

Logic suggests to me that this will be a close game, with both armies being fairly grindy, with a decent amount of magic to throw around.

The battleplan could make this interesting, as Nurgle don’t really want to be the baby in the corner of the map.

Hoping for another bloodbath here chaps!

Prediction: Joe to win (if he can get his skates on)

Craig (needs to FECing bounce back) vs Callum (making giant strides)

Having been pumped by Alden in the last round I think this is a slightly more favourable match up for me, giants want to come smash and my cryptguard want to be charged for all that lovely rend.

Ushoran unfortunately does not love this match up, because he can’t make the big lads strike last, and the last time Callum’s Kragnos charged him he took 30 mortal wounds to the face!

I will however have some magical superiority and can hopefully be at least somewhat annoying dropping the wall and stuff.

Callum has done very well with the big lads and like me has only lost to Alden so far, so it’s a big game for both of us heading into the final rounds.

Giants could very easily just smash their way through the rather soft bellied ghouls as well so I will need to rely on recursion and lots of attacks to bring these big bastards down to my level!

Prediction: Genuinely unsure on this one, I’m going to say I win just for the psychological effect. YOU SEE THIS CALLUM?!
