40k League - 11th - Season 1 - Round 6 - Division 3
A slightly better outing for my predictions this week; let’s see what happened:
Matt (Necrons / Take & Hold) vs Craig (Death Guard / Recon)
Yeh…I didn’t see this going well for Craig, and unfortunately it went even worse than I’d expected. I thought he’d at least be able to rack up a decent passive score, but those mean old robots wouldn’t even let him do that. Thanks to a certain person who has his own tier though, Matt is sitting in 2nd place in the league after this game.
Prediction: Matt
Winner: Matt (98 to 52)

Weir (Dark Angels / Recon) vs Josh (Chaos Knights / Take and Hold)
There are many reasons he has his own tier, but one of them is his love for playing a “narrative” army that just so happens to also be the top of the meta. Ross is right, if Weir played more often, he’d truly be the absolute nightmare of the club – but alas he must settle for King Dick of the Mid League. I thought Josh might have been able to do more damage with his spiky knights, but I guess if Weir was able to keep up the pressure, it would’ve been far easier for him to score. I’ve also witnessed how easy it is to drop a Lancer, so Weir probably achieved this more easily than I predicted.
Prediction: Weir
Winner: Weir (99 to 60)

Dan (Death Guard / Priority Assets) vs Jamie (Imperial Knights / Take and Hold)
Ok, so despite what my prediction said, Jamie was playing Take and Hold rather than Purge, so this became a familiar match for me as I’d played the exact same mission combo the round before against… shudder…Matt.
I got top of turn which is something I really didn’t want, and this allowed Jamie to get yeet his knights up the board and get some good firing positions on me….and then he completely fucked all of his dice rolls and I hit back with that classic mid board menace style that Death Guard do so well (which is about all they do well atm). Betting against myself has paid off once again…maybe I should make a habit of it.
Prediction: Jamie
Winner: Dan (87 but Jamie did score 69 wheyyyyy lads lads lads lads)

Alas we’re back on the shit CoPilot slop again…ChatGPT is getting so stingy.
Round 6
This is the final round for some of us, (certainly is for me!), so these should be the deciding games to determine whether we have to put up with more Necron bullshit or more Narrative bullshit for the next season.
Fixtures:
Weir (Dark Angels) vs Jamie (Imperial Knights)
Matt (Necrons) vs Joe (Leagues of Votann)
Dan (Death Guard) vs Josh (Chaos Knights
Craig – BYE
Weir (Dark Angels / Recon) vs Jamie (Imperial Knights / Take and Hold)
Given how his game went against Josh, I can see Weir getting a similar result against Jamie this round. As scary as Jamie’s IK’s output is, Weir just has too many units and some scary output of his own. So I think this will be more of a case of how highly can Weir score in order to solidify his position. But who knows, maybe Jamie’s dice will behave better this time and he pulls off a blinder.
Prediction: Weir (but score low pls)

I…I just don’t know where to start with that one. Why is there a Nurgling in the corner? Why does Canis Rex have a giant head that looks kinda like Pedro Pascal? Why do the Ravenwing appear to have blue and red lightsabers mounted to their bikes?? Actually…that kinda leans into their “are they chaos, are they not” theme. Well done CoPilot slop machine.
Matt (Necrons / Take and Hold) vs Joe (Votann / Priority Assets)
Well, fuck me, fuck this blog and fuck my ability to make predictions, because Matt and Joe have already played this game. Back around Round 3 I think? Their callous disregard for the structure of the league aside, this game has pushed Matt into the lead once again, so he is the undead robot to beat (but don’t beat him, we want him to succeed and became the menace of league 2….and also not have to play against Necrons anymore).
Prediction: Doesn’t bloody matter does it

Dan (Death Guard / Priority Assets) vs Josh (Chaos Knights / Take and Hold)
So, for the third round in a row, it’s this matchup. I feel like I’ve got a good idea of what my list can do now (squads have ridiculous output, blight haulers punch up, land raider continues to disappoint but also doesn’t die). Josh’s 5 bigs are in different configurations, but they are still 5 bigs, so as long as I don’t engage my smooth brain and Josh engages his, I think this should be another victory for the DG. Josh is no slouch though, he’s a tricksy little Diglett, so I’m going to need to make sure every move I make is a purposeful one.
Who am I kidding…this is gonna be a LEEEEROYYYYYY JENNNNNKINSSSSS fest.
Prediction: Dan

Craig has his long-awaited bye this week, which means he’ll probably have another opportunity to change his list if the September slate drops by then. Go on Craig, go for the hammer and contagion engines combo, you know it makes sense :D
