Summer 40k League R5 Roundup and R6 Prediction

We are back to the League after a big ITT weekend and this is an extended week due to the Shitshow Anniversary Mini Tourney. We have had a few drops - people unable to keep up with the rigorous mental challenge that we all present, at least I am sure that is how it was worded.

Round 5 Roundup

Harry Lord of the Rubric V Tom D (Taktical Orks)

Prediction: Harry

Result: Unplayed Draw

Both losers scared of another loss so called it a draw.

Freddie (TWC are back baby Stormlance) V Jamie (Infernal Wardogs)

Prediction: Freddie

Result: Freddie

No one is more surprised than Freddie that he actually managed to win a game. In fact this win immediately made him panic and change his whole faction for ITT. Strange fella.

Luke N (Awakened Necrons) V John (Hekaton Votann)

Prediction: Luke

Result: Bye win for Luke

John has dropped so easy points for Luke.

Ben J (UM Gladius) V Ryan (4 Bigs IK)

Prediction: Ben J

Got this one wrong as Ben wasn't quite able to get the big UM guns to kill enough of the big shiny bastards quick enough.

Dickie (Hammer Guard) V Mark (Reapers Drukhari)

This was a close one and the infantry eating capabilities of Marks weird torture dudes paid off.

James (Invasion Nids) V Luke (MSU Votann)

A close game again here but when an exocrine and a couple of Tyrannofex's can't kill a single unit of Warriors you know it's not your day.

Dan (Virulent DG) V Craig (Champions DG)

Prediction: Death Guard

Result: Craig

Dan is making a name for himself for scoring within five points of his opponent win or loss. Sounds like the perfect teams player. Shame he loves grass so much.

Tom S (UM Gladius) V Sean (Zerker WE)

Sean got this one in the bag an chopped up the Smurfs nice and good. Heading for a podium place perhaps?

Fletcher (Peerless EC) V Ross (Aspect Aeldari)

Prediction: Ross

Result: Ross

Ross smashed Fletcher's teeth in and then proceeded to drop, just to rub it in the poor EC lads face.

Max (IA nonsense) V Mike (Starshatter Necrons)

Turns out Necrons do have the killing power to get through the idiot horde.

Jack (Final Day GSC) V Chris (Dorn heavy Guard)

I underestimated Chris here (he makes it so easy to do) and he managed the win.

Sam (Armigeddon IK) V Ben B (Seer Council Aeldari)

It was actually a super scary close game and Fuegan + 5 Fire Dragons failing to kill an Armiger might have been my personal highlight.

Ben (Seer Council Aeldari) V Mike (Starshatter Necrons)

Prediction: Ben

This is an interesting one as whilst Necrons have insane killing power a lot of it will be overkill versus the silly elves. I've also now witnessed Ben in action here and those little bastards can put out a shocking amount of damage from all sorts of units.

I hate them being able to turn things to a 6.

Jack (Pactbound CSM) V Sean (WE)

Prediction: Sean

Jack has sold his army which is what has allowed the faction change. This is the only scenario, other than losing three times, that allows this.

He will still be shit with it obviously.

Max (IA Nonsense) V Craig (Champions DG)

Prediction: Craig

I think DG have the capability to clear off the OC at a fast enough rate to make this victory possible. Also a surreptitious Imperial Agent has actually crawled inside Max's leg, weakening him via infection, begging to be put on the shelf. Even they know they are ridiculous.

Luke H (MSU Votann) V Rob (Breacher spam Tau)

Prediction: Luke

Whilst I do think Rob has no problem out ranging and out gunning the Votann I think they lose the trade game against this particular Votann list. If I were Rob I would keep mentioning how good judgement tokens are and how great Bezerks with two wounds are - see if I can mentally break Luke early.

Fletcher (Peerless EC) V Mark (Reapers Drukhari) Prediction: Fletcher

Two armies geared towards mass infantry murder means this should be a juicy one. Fletcher continues his struggles with Peerless where Coterie here would be so damn good. So much so Fletcher is selling his EC. Didn't even finish building Fulgrim SMH.

Ryan (Big IK) V Tom S (Shooty UM)

Prediction: Ryan

Tom gets a second bite of the apple here with another Knights game (he must be thrilled) so I am basing my prediction solely on previous results. I do think a victory for Tom is possible here. Just gotta hit that break point of dropping 2 bigs in a turn with all the tools.

Dan (Virulent DG) V James (Invasion Nid)

Prediction: Dan

I genuinely don't know which way this will go. Dan has the lethality to put big dents in James' big boys but the same is true on the reverse so turn order as well as trading pieces probably decides this game and I think Dan can expose less of his scary stuff before James has to. Doesn't mean he won't like a madlad though.

Luke N (Awakened Necrons) V Tom D (Taktical Orks)

OK so why is Tom still using Taktical - can someone check on him?

Luke has horrible to kill bricks but do you know what they are are bit more expose to? Many many lower powered attacked. Guess what Orks have access to? However if you just scare Tom early he will concede so easy peasy.

Dickie (Queen Liz Guard) V Freddie (TWC Stormlance)

Prediction: Freddie

We might be edging towards closing time on Queen Liz but a couple more hurrahs still on the cards. Unfortunately I don't think she is great (shocker) into an army full of 4++ boys running at your lines like fucking lunatics.

Ben J (Shooty UM) V Jamie (Wardog Houndpack)

Prediction: Jamie

I think the UM lists are better overall into the big knights, where they can make the 2+ to wound efficiency really count. If Ben can tie up enough of the smalls to get 2-3 rounds of shooting in then the game might flip in his favour but I think it is a big ask.
