Our first league of 2025 is complete so it is my solemn duty to review the whole event with a fine tooth comb - see who underperformed, who overperformed and who is king cuck.
Prizes will be done on Wednesday 14th as that is when our league winner can next make it. In the meantime I will send out a form for Best Sports.
This is what the final table looked like (Fletcher is Alex before drop and Neil also dropped):

Some interesting stats to note from BCP as well:
Ross was the only person to win every game he played - but had to drop for two. At the same time he was equal to Mark and Angus for most bye wins at two.
Tom had the highest Wins SoS - meaning he had the toughest run.
Chris had the most number of draws (2) out of anyone.
Biggest win/loss: Tom smashing Chris 97-42, followed by Jack beating me 96-45.
An interesting alternative table to look at is total VP (Battle Points):

Mike still gets the win but there are some serious changes elsewhere: Ross down in mid table, Max second, Ben up to mid table etc etc.
Something to consider in what gets you the win vs purely VP. Knowing how much risk to take going 1st/2nd can get you the win even if the score is lower.
Over performer of the season (I realise this sounds like a backhanded compliment but it isn't meant as such): Craig in 4th place. This is a demonstrable fact of his improvement over the last six months! Now you have to keep it up next season.
Under performer: I think this has to be either myself or Gary. This is the first league I haven't finished second (always the bridesmaid) and by god did I not finish close to second. Gary was just shit.
Overall I think this was the strongest crop of players we have had for a season and I think it will expand for the summer one! Thank you everyone for taking part.
Summer League
I will start taking sign ups for next season soon and the following rules changes will be in place:
Wildcards will no longer take effect until the FOLLOWING week of using it. This means people cannot tailor their lists to their opponent at all. This will not apply for an MFM/Dataslate/Codex. But they must give their opponent 48 hours notice of their new list before playing.
If you lose three games in a row you may use a Wildcard to change faction.
If you are having trouble scheduling a game with your opponent and can't come to an agreement about the win the person who offered the most number of evenings + weekends will take the win.
You can accept stand ins for your game, if your opponent cannot make it, and you will score the minimum 80-20 win. If you win by more you can take the higher VP.
That's a wrap!
