The second Hobby Henchmen AoS league is finished and we’re already impatient for the next one.
Armies have been sold, friends and enemies made across the tabletop, and in some instances, armies have even been painted!
Thanks to all who took part, especially the newer faces. Please feel free to send any feedback you might have or ideas for the next one which will be starting in July with the new GHB.
Before the pomp and ceremony of revealing our trophy winners, let’s review the final round of matches:
Liam (quietly hoarding trees) vs Max (STILL needs to put Ogors on round bases)
Prediction: Based on form, I’m going for Liam here.
Result: Liam takes the win
I walked over to the table to check in on this game after about an hour, and was greeted with a rather shellshocked Max who had very few models left on the table at the bottom of battle round 2.
Turns out, Ogors failing all their charges in a turn basically means they gon’ die, and Liam duly obliged.
Fair play to Max, he scored well considering how few models he had, but there’s no coming back from a T2 massacre.
Liam finishes with 3 wins and a draw, wondering what might have happened had he been able to play his first game. There’s always next league mate!
George (elusive rats) vs Andy (100 Trueblades coming)
Prediction: Andy to get his first win.
Result: Draw
George and Andy unfortunately were unable to get a date to play their game, so agreed to leave it as a bye/drawn result.
Callum (timberrrr!) vs Leo (he couldn’t, could he?)
Prediction: Leo to continue his irresistible form.
Result: Leo wins
It turns out that Leo absolutely could! This was a very close result with Leo winning by only 5 points, which he described as his favourite and hardest game so far. Callum’s feedback was ‘4 models with 6 objectives is hard’ which says it all I feel.
Leo as a result finished with 4 wins and 2 losses, finishing on a 4-game winning streak, incredible submarine effort!
Alden (heir apparent to his own throne) vs Joe (sniffing a podium, or maybe it’s Rotigus?)
Prediction: I’ve not bet against Alden so far, and I ain’t starting now!
Result: Alden wins
Alden takes his customary win to finish 6-0 in the league once more, but Joe ran him real close, becoming the highest scorer against Alden out of all of us this time around.
Additionally, limiting Alden’s scoring to only 54, which is the only sub-70 score he has achieved across 6 games (which is wild in itself).
Craig (nervously awaiting battlescroll) vs Kyle (somewhat less nervously awaiting it)
Prediction: Win for Craig
Result: Win for Craig
This game was my hardest fought win across the league and a fantastic game with Kyle.
Kyle went miles ahead in the early rounds, and I didn’t score a battle tactic until BR4. A double turn BR3 probably swung it for me, with enough damage dealt to Kyle’s forces to deplete his options for a comeback sufficiently.
Could have easily gone differently though, I was in full panic at the end of BR2! GG my friend.
