40k League - 11th - Season 1 - Round 5 - Division 2

With round 4 complete let’s take a look back and see how my predictions faired.

First up we had recon csm vs purge WE.

Now this was a nail biter coming down to the very last move from Joe to take the win. With some silly miss playing from myself allowing Joe to full send towards my expansion using all of his exalted eightbound a forgefiend a maulerfiend AND a demon prince I just didn’t position enough stuff at the back to stop him heading towards my home and consecrating it. I also made the mistake of not doing my action on my expansion and greedily taking some shots at said maulerfiend on 3 wounds failing to kill it AND meaning I missed out on those vital points for my primary…always score ahead guys…

But was a fantastic game and thoroughly enjoyed it so GG Joe fucking A!

Next up there was another very close game, this time between James’s custodes and Alexeis Tau. Now I’m not entirely sure how this game went as when I went over to look they were still pretty early in so couldn’t gather much from the board state but it looked like a big go turn was being set up so potentially it was a bounce or possibly even it turned out to not be a go turn when it should have been. Either way I have no more information to give other than well played Alexei!

Finally from the previous round we had the Plank man himself taking on Ollys tau. Again I didn’t see much of this game but speaking to Ryan after it seemed like it was just a few aggressive turns from the knights to try and clear as much as he could to then catch up with the scoring and eek out the win. Another nail under the plank man’s belt.

Now onto Round 5 where some of the games have actually been played ahead of time so we do have the results a little sooner than normal. Il still try to predict how I think the game would have gone and where I can give a breakdown of what actually occurred.

First up we have Jack Vs Ryan

CSM Purge vs Knights Purge

With this being a game that has already taken place I can only say one thing…blood bath… a few whiffs from a defiler and a failed low rerollable charge from the Huron brick and I just didn’t have enough to survive the clap back from Ryan’s big bois. Would have predicated myself for the win but alas it was a brutal loss.

Next up and another pre played game we have Joe Fucking A vs Alexie.

WE Purge vs Tau Prio (?)

Honestly not sure what disposition Alexie was on when they played their game however from talking to Joe I believe it was tau doing tricky tau things and putting the pressure on early enough to blunt any real threat Joe had. Would have backed the tau in this instance anyway cause I’m great at predicting the games!

And lastly of the round 5 games we have James vs Gary

Custodes take and hold vs CK Prio

Now Gary had a slight advantage here with the primary as assuming it’s a passive game Prio does score slightly higher. However with these two numbnuts it’s not gonna be a passive game…I’m not sure which will full send first but whoever does needs to make sure they focus the right units and gets them gone quickly. I do think in this match up Gary may have another slight edge of James possibly struggling with keeping his units 6” away where he might need multiple units focusing one knight to reliably take it down. Or blade champ allarus and bikes will spike and ruin Gary’s day!

Gonna go with Gary and assume James doesn’t spike…
