Hi folks, (Sam are you sure that anyone reads the League Five blogs?) Round 2 has been and gone and I can guarantee that at least one person in each of the households of our bold league fivers cares about how the games went, hint its not anyone else in their respective households. Let’s check in and see how it all went
Round 2 Results
Ben v Phil (UM Gladius v Blood Angles LAG)
Prediction: Ben
Result: Draw
Not really sure what’s happened here but it appears to be a draw. Might have to check back later and see if this changes.
Jon v Jamie (Tau Mont’ka v Blood Angels LAG)
Prediction: Jon
Result: Jon
As predicted Tau continue to do Tau things and not letting the change in Force Dispositions stop the annihilation of the Boys from Baal. I imagine that Jon is probably wondering where that last point went.
Aidan v Neil (Custodes Shield Host and Tharanatoi Hammerblow v SM Librarius Conclave and Reclamation Force)
Prediction: Aidan
Result: Neil
Ouch I seemed to have gotten this prediction wrong. A convincing win for the Space Smurfs. Looks like they were able to weather the storm and survive. Turns out blocks of ten terminators with shields can really slow down the golden boys.
Nick v Thomas (TS Grand Coven v SM Blades of Ultramar)
Prediction: Thomas
Result: Thomas
Battle of the book readers and a correct prediction. Despite a late entry to the league Thomas has hit the round running and proven that Nick should really have made an effort in list building rather than recycled his end of tenth list. You can’t do Priority Assets with very few units!
Ok now the scores are in lets look at predictions for the next round.
Right that being said we are in for some confusion right now as less that 24 hours of pairings and half the games have got scores on the board already. Lets take a look into what is happening.
John v Ben (Tau Montka v UM Gladius)
Prediction: Ben
Result: Scheduling conflicts
Ok, Jon has had an easy ride through the first couple of games of just kill things. Despite being wrong about Ben’s list game 1 the ability to keep units hidden and do actions whilst avoiding the kills I think will give him the edge. Note, ok it appears that this game has gone to a draw already. Looks like scheduling conflicts has played a result here. We’ll have to check back later.
Phil V Neil (Blood Angels LAG v UM Librarius Conclave and Reclamation Force)
Prediction: Neil
Ok the last time I predicted Neil I was wrong, this time I think that I am on the money. As someone (who at time of writing) also has a Blood Angels army I’d love to support them, however, in this mirror match of dispositions I think the immovable Terminator bricks and +1 wound oath will swing it the way of the Ultra Marines.
Aiden V Nick V International Travel & Spanish Estate Settling Bureaucracy (Custodes Shield Host and Tharanatoi Hammerblow v Thousand Sons Grand Coven)
Prediction: Aiden
Result: International Travel & Spanish Estate Settling Bureaucracy
So comparing the lists and as someone who (currently) plays both armies Aiden would have the edge. Max has already proven in The Warp league that Custodes can easily get through lager bricks of Scarab Occult Terminators that would likely happen here. Whilst the real winners of this game will be International Travel & Spanish Estate Settling Bureaucracy, Sam has told me that you cannot have a three player game where one of the players doesn’t play, so I guess that’s an easy win for Aiden. Great work dude!
Ok so this set of predictions has led to half the results also being produced at the same time. Hopefully the remaining four can get their games sorted in a goodly fashion and we can get the next one out quickly. See you in the next one.
