40k League - 11th - Season 1 - Round 1 - Division 2

We’ve got some spicy match ups for the first round of the league and in league 2 we’ve got a reputation to keep of nearly being good at the game. What will the first look at the lists show us? What tactical decisions have lead to the final lists?

Oh what’s that?! 

Oh they’ve basically all gone purge…

At least we have one man willing to do his part for the reputation of League 2 and choose a disposition that may require even two brain cells!

Round One Predictions:

As with it being a new edition and none of us having real experience with it the first few rounds I wouldn’t put money on these predictions but il do my best!

Alexei Vs Olly

Tau - Purge Vs Tau - Recon

Killy Tau vs Action Tau! This is gonna be one for the greatest of all the goods! As our only non meat grinder match up this is one where I will hopefully be able to comment on the match up more. Whilst Alexeis goals are simple to do Olly does have the score as advantage assuming he can deny the hold more. Both lists are suitably stacked up with battlesuits and guns galore however, Olly has favoured more fast trading pieces and action monkeys which in the case of recon is perfect. 

With both players having similar lists they can both pack just as much punch as each other. However with the mission in mind Olly may be able to leverage his pieces to deny Olly getting his early kills and consecrating the objectives early enough.

Ryan Vs Gary

IK - Purge Vs CK - Purge

With both players taking purge this match up will go one way. Carnage. However in this carnage Ryan has the initial advantage of having less overall units. Favouring the all big play style means it should be a lot easier for Ryan to keep the kill more score advantage. Gary will need to use his war dogs wisely and keep his casualties to a minimum, keep the kill points close and win on the secondaries. Or take a Hail Mary and force Ryan to over expose his bigs for the war dogs and pray he can hit back with a thunderous clap akin to his ass cheeks as he walks up to see his favourite bartender. Unfortunately it may not be enough and in the wise words of Gary himself 

“He will fuck me harder than Johnny Sins”

James Vs Joe Fucking Adams

Custodes - Purge Vs WE - Purge

A typically brutal match up of pure testosterone and aggression. A match up which both players tactically informed me is “a shit match up for me, possibly the worst” 

Now with this input from both players we can only assume it will end in a draw as both players cower in fear! 

Truthfully this match up can easily go either way. If James isn’t able to roll his 4++s he will fall over to the volume of Joes attacks and be left with no enough to clap back. James will have to position well to protect his heavy hitters and make sure he gets multiple good rounds of shooting from the caladius and all the shooting his allarus and guard can muster to keep the pressure on Joe and to stop them being able to clear custodes with the fight on death. This one I think can honestly go either way but i know James’s dice are cooked from round 3 onwards when it really matters.

Now for the match up you’ve all been waiting for. I know for a fact hes been fine tuning this list for maximum crustacean and pure clawage.
