End of the League Roundup – Try Hard

He has done it again – two leagues in a row! Can he be stopped? Will Pariah be his undoing? We won’t know until August, when the next leagues kick off (more detail on these in a later post).

Well done to Chris for succeeding with a very silly army (no one loves to skew more than this man). Out-skewed Gary’s inherently skewed list, well played sir.

At the other end of the league Leo nearly avoided a consecutive Spoon but Harry just about closed the door to him.

Let’s have a look at what everyone said they wanted to achieve at the start and how it matched up as well as early predictions. We will give out prizes for next week (26th) – First Place, Best Sports and Wooden Spoon.

Predictions:

Chris guessed Gary or myself so if we were guessing 2nd and 3rd place he would be right. But we aren’t.

Harry guessed Chris or Tony – one was very wrong and one was very right. Well done Harry. Not on your placing but your guesswork.

Sam: I guessed Gary or Rob but that was before I realised Rob was trying to make garbage work. Even then I was wrong with Gary but I really thought Chris’ list wouldn’t be able to score effectively.

Sam’s weekly predictions:

I got 15/24 prediction correct (only started from week 2) – with Week 4 completely fucking my numbers getting zero predictions correct. I will smash at least 75% next season so at least I feel good about something.

What we wanted vs what we achieved:

What Gary Said:

“1st place. Anything less would be a huge disappointment considering the calibre of other players in the league. That’s not to say I’m a great tactical genius but most of these lads would struggle to win a game of Connect 4.“

What Gary Achieved:

2nd place. Therefore a huge disappointment. I hope someone will be there to console him. In fairness he did make most of us look like we would struggle to win a game of Connect 4

What Harry Said:

“Naturally first because I’m a hungry meta chaser!! Nah being honest I’d like to finish mid table or even come in the Top 3 having said that I’ll go full balls to the wall to win!“

What Harry Achieved:

Barely scraping off the bottom means an equally disappointing performance from Harry but I am sure his self delusion will keep him happy with the result.

What Chris Said:

“4th this time. (Ed. note – bollocks!)”

What Chris Achieved:

1st Place – meaning he wildly overachieved. What he really said at the beginning was “As long as I beat Gary 1v1 I will be happy” which means he fully achieved his goals. Well done slagathor.

What Ben Said:

“Above Harry“

What Ben Achieved:

6th place to Harry’s 7th. Easy. And I believe the Grey Knights are getting shelved for a while but NOT being sold!

What Leo Said:

“Just want to win a game! Haha.“

What Leo Achieved:

Job done from our boy Leo – got his first win under his belt, in the league format, and it’s only onwards and upwards from here!

What Sam Said:

“Honestly I want to win it but think I will struggle into Gary’s doggies and Tony’s necrons. Minimum second place is the aim but honestly if I just murder someone and lose on points I am usually just as happy.“

What Sam Achieved:

3rd place so lower than I wanted. Never got to play Tony but lost to his replacement Luke anyway! The codex fucked me!!

Final Words

I had a great time this league and still love the format – I hope you did too.
