AoS Blog 7: Blessings of Nurgle

That’s all folks! That’s all she wrote. The inaugural Hobby Henchmen AoS league has ceased to be, it is an ex-league.

The 6th and final round has taken place, and the podium shall be revealed very soon.

To add some suspense, let’s review the games first though! Unfortunately, for various reasons we did not finish strongly on games played for this round.

Me vs Mike

Prediction: Teeth bounce off steel armour, Mike wins 36-32

Result: Craig wins 32-28

This game was an absolute nail biter and required far more thinking than I’m used to to get the result.

Ushoran stomped his authority on the mid board, managing to tank a lot of damage and healing it back up over time after Mike did a cheeky teleport assault into my backline on turn 1.

Essentially, FEC manifestations won this game for me, the Wall kept making an appearance, and did a fantastic job of move blocking Mike’s scary units (ably helped by Karazai rolling horribly for any attacks being made).

Then 2 turns of only having 1 objective which Mike couldn’t get to did the job which was very helpful as between a double turn and failing to score my battle tactics I wasn’t doing well scoring aside from that.

Callum vs Chris

Prediction: Callum wins a nailbiter 34-32

Result: Not a nailbiter, Callum wins 48-30

This was not as close as expected, but until turn 3 it was neck and neck.

A combination of spiking ward saves and Callum being able to dump 18 trolls on the centre objective did the job here, with Chris unable to penetrate those lines and score primary for the last 2 turns, despite doing a stellar job on his secondaries.

Alden vs Dickie

Prediction: Alden bums Dickie 44-24

Result: Alden bums Dickie 48-20

An even more comprehensive beat-down in this game than I had predicted, Alden powering his way through Dickie like he has done to all before him in this league!

Some tales were told of some incredible dice rolls from Dickie, but ultimately rats with poor armour saves do not do well into Rend!

Billie vs Joe

Prediction: Joe wins 36-32

Result: Joe wins 40-10

Billie is celebrity now and couldn’t fit Joe into her busy schedule so Joe got a bye win.

Matt vs Tom

Prediction: Dragons to feast 38-32

Result: Tom wins 40-10

Matt was unable to make the game, so Tom got a bye win.

Lauren vs Jake

Prediction: Lauren to win 40-28

Result: Lauren wins 40-10

Jake was unable to make the game, so Lauren got a bye win.

Kyle vs Aid

Prediction: Kyle wins 40-10 because bye game

Pete vs Leo

Prediction: Pete wins 40-10 because bye game

So the podium is as follows, with a shocking entry in 1st place (it isn’t).

Congratulations to our podium makers and to Alden for absolutely wrecking his way through the group with nary a stumble from the beginning!

The future

An AoS league in some form will make a return, following the posting of this blog I will post a poll in the AoS chat (join us!) to see what people would like to do.

There has also been discussion of having Spearhead nights as a Thursday club activity if people want to dip their toes in to the shorter format.
